ELD Explained

Switching to digital logs doesn't have to be a pain

What is ELD?

ELD is a new electronic log system that automatically records duty status changes, notes location and gives the driver a heads up on hours remaining before a violation. Driver logs are synced wirelessly to your online account for easy review and secure backup, making them accessible to fleet managers and drivers.

Who needs ELD?

If you are currently using paper logs at least 8 out of every 30 days and your trucks are model year 2000 or newer, than yes you will most likely need to switch to ELD. There are a few exemptions listed here.

When do I need to get ELD?

Your fleet will need to switch to an electronic log system before December 2017 in order to stay compliant. If your fleet is already using e-logs, you will need to upgrade to a full ELD solution before December 2019.

Where can I get ELD?

There are many ELD vendors catering to different needs. Carma's solution aims to be the simplest and easiest without requiring a contract.
